If you are looking for authentic, yet modern and creative tapas, this tiny, blue-painted restaurant and bar is the place to go. Nestled in a side street, Eslava is impossible to miss. Sure, you’ll have to queue between locals and tourists, but it’s worth it. My tip: Stop by before opening and be charming enough to secure one of the coveted seats early! Nice staff, great wine and excellent tapas.

Rent a bike and cycle through the impressive park or visit the great museum. Both the San Telmo Palace building and the American Gardens are stunning attractions. You can hire a Segway with a tour guide who will tell you everything you need to know about this beautiful part of Seville.

Flamenco Show

No matter where you are in Seville, you will find a flamenco show. Near the cathedral you will find a restaurant called Table El Arenal, which is known for flamenco shows with dinner. Let us start with perhaps the most famous hotel in all of Seville. Since 1929 it has been the place where the “in-crowd” has stayed, eaten and drunk. In recent years, the hotel has undergone a multi-million pound renovation and is now not only the best hotel in Seville, but also one of the best in all of Spain. The Luxury Collection Hotel, with its magnificent and ornate entrance hall, makes you feel as if you have stepped into another era, which is true in a way, as the hotel was built for the kings and important personalities who attended the 1929 World’s Fair in Seville.

The mosaics and paintings in the entrance hall make it clear that this is an exceptional hotel. My personal favourite is the San Fernando terrace restaurant. It is the best place for an afternoon cocktail or a drink before dinner. It attracts the kind of crowd that makes you wonder if the occupant next to you is famous, but it’s totally relaxed and not fussy. Later, there’s the American bar, which is both decadent and cosy. The pool and accompanying bar are excellent; you and your date would be very comfortable here, sipping cocktails in the sun. The gym has large glass windows so you almost feel like you are outside, but thank goodness it’s air-conditioned!

We have covered the amenities, now let us talk about the rooms. You should definitely try to book the Torreon Suite. It’s only available on request, but you should definitely stay there. It’s one of those suites that surpasses “old world glamour” with stunning views of the city and is not to be missed. Pure, out of this world, too decadent, too fabulous, luxury. If the Torreon is not available, there are other suites on offer such as the Eugenia, the Alfonso and the Reales Alcazares. All the suites are fabulous; they have lots of velvet, gold and bold décor, but I suppose it all feels very Spanish and regal. If all that velvet and gold is not for you, then you should retire and go to the centre, right by the cathedral. This small hotel, converted from townhouses, has a rooftop sun terrace with plunge pool, a rooftop bar, a spa with hamman and steam room, and a restaurant. The décor is minimalist with a slight Andalusian influence. The rooms are light and airy, with lots of natural fibres, yet modern.

Shops, bars and restaurants are just a stone’s throw away, making the hotel perfect for exploring. Nearby you can rent bikes or Segways to explore this beautiful city even more. The bar is very relaxed and a must for pre-dinner drinks. It is almost a hidden gem of a hotel. The views of the cathedral are stunning, but expect some noise pollution as the hotel is very centrally located.

Dona Maria Hotel Seville, Andalucia, Spain

Stately, lively and all in all warm and friendly, this hotel has a lot to offer. Owned by a Marquess, the Hotel Dona Maria has plenty of style and charm.
