Five star luxury hotels in Copenhagen for your inspiration

Hotel D’Angleterre, Kongens Nytorv 34, 1050 København, Denmark

If you are the type of gentleman who likes his hotels to be luxurious with the best service then Hotel D’Angleterre Copenhagen is perfect for you. It may be a French hotel group but the service is very Danish. As with all Hotel d’Angleterre properties, expect timeless elegance and classic décor. Luxurious furnishings, beautiful artwork and sophisticated design elements throughout this immaculately presented hotel. You will be cheerily greeted every time you step into this polished hotel set in an imposing yet refined building dating back to 1755 overlooking Kongens Nytorv Square by welcoming doormen and a friendly concierge and reception team. Copenhagen boasts 15 Michelin-starred restaurants and one is right here inside Hotel D’Angleterre. Marchal won its first Michelin star in 2014 and has since then retained the star every year. Danish chef Jakob de Neergaard has created a gastronomic masterpiece of a menu combining classic French techniques with modern Nordic influences. If fine dining was not romantic enough, the Hotel D’Angleterre has an incredibly indulgent spa offering romantic couples packages. Indulge you and your beautiful companion with an array of facial and body treatments leaving you both refreshed and revitalised.

Adjacent to Tivoli Gardens

Nimb Hotel, Bernstorffsgade 5, 1577 København, Denmark

With views of the world-famous Tivoli Gardens, this five-star boutique hotel offers couples a luxurious stay in the heart of Copenhagen. The Nimb has recently won the Condé Nast Traveler Readers’ Choice Award 2023. It is not hard to see why this hotel is award-winning. Scandinavian design meets contemporary luxury at the Nimb Hotel, Copenhagen. Providing a beautiful yet comfortable stay for the most stylish of guests.

Suites come with complimentary access to Tivoli Gardens, the Nimb Roof rooftop bar as well as Nimb Wellness. All 38 rooms here at the Nimb Hotel try and give guests the true sense of “hygge”. Hygge loosely translates to cosiness in English but more than that it is said to be almost a lifestyle incorporating ten principles. The principles are “Atmosphere, Presence, Pleasure, Equality, Gratitude, Harmony, Comfort, Truce, Togetherness and, finally, Shelter.” A five-star hotel with incredible facilities in an unbeatable location.

After all your pampering enjoy a champagne cocktail at Balthazar. It is said to be one of the best bars in Copenhagen. Full of locals as well as hotel guests. The service is first class and the cocktails are fun. All champagne based of course but the menu is truly extensive with something for every taste. A truly spectacular five-star experience.

It’s 5 o clock somewhere

Danes have a very liberal attitude to drinking. Unsurprising since Denmark gave the world Carlsberg. We have already mentioned Balthazar which is an absolute must for champagne lovers but what about the best of the rest?

Bar Deco Ny Adelgade 5B, 1104 København

Around the corner from Hotel D’Angleterre, you have Bar Deco. The Danish “hygge” concept is very difficult to explain. Simply step into this deceptively extensive bar to feel it. Bars in Copenhagen seem to be far quieter than in London. More of a hum of conversation and music than the shrieking and blaring you endure in London bars. The lighting is warm and inviting, almost like an orange glow. Less neon signs and flower walls more glowing candelabra and antique dark furniture. Additionally, you will find cosy corners allowing you to take your time perusing the extensive and flavoursome menu.

Ruby, Nybrogade 10, 1203 København

This split-level cocktail bar focuses on seasonal flavours. Ruby is a bit of a sophisticated rabbit warren, situated in a historic townhouse opposite the parliament buildings and Thorvaldsens museum. Dating back to the 17th century. You can almost imagine a fisherman spending his hard-earned wages on a drop of liquor here. Meanwhile, back in the 21st century, Ruby has that typical Scandinavian interior. A light wood bar topped with pale marble, velvet upholstered snug sofa’s and soft chandelier lighting. It is the “pop in for one and stay for three” kind of venue.
