St Tropez

St Tropez

St Tropez, located on the French Riviera, is the hot spot for champagne la piscine, parties and joie de vivre. This once quiet little fishing village has transformed itself into a playground for the rich and famous. Ever since a young 21-year-old actress called Brigitte Bardot strutted onto Tahiti Beach in the file “God Created Woman” in 1957, anyone who is anyone (and us mere mortals in-between) has flocked to the “pearl of the Mediterranean.” Artists such as Picasso and Paul Signac loved the light and landscape here. Wherever file stars and artists go, the rest follow. With temperatures above 30º on the Côte d’Azur during the summer months, it is easy to see why Beyoncé and Jay-Z, The Beckham, Joan Collins and Elton John flock here summer after summer. Usually celebrities sail in on their mega yachts, but where do they go for fun? Let’s find out.

It really is a dream in the sun. 35 vibrant but stylish rooms and suites make up this boutique hotel. Arev also has its own spa which, in contrast to the bold hotel decor, is very serene and decorated with natural materials such as light wood and stone. Creating a calm and serene space to fully relax. If you and your holiday companion feel restless, then there is padel courts, a gym and yoga to keep you active. You can also borrow bikes to explore. When hungry, The Strand offers al fresco dining in the St Tropezian sunshine. Elegant and refined, this outdoor space is a luxurious all-day dining experience serving Mediterranean cuisine and bespoke cocktails from early until late. A fabulous addition to St Tropez.

Byblos Beach club brought to you by the iconic Byblos hotel is a classic yet refined beach club. A jewel in Ramatuelle. The perfect spot to go and laze in the sun on the beach or enjoy an uncrushed al fresco lunch. Sophisticated but not pretentious this beach club is welcome to all. Well heeled, you will not find scantily clad dancers carrying sparklers and booming music here. No DJ, no entertainers just a brilliant menu, first class service and the beauty of Ramatelle. What is interesting is it is full of guests from neighbouring Monaco as well as tourists from overseas.

The menu is seasonal; full of fresh fish, salads, but also includes pasta and desserts. The cocktail and wine list is extensive. The Byblos Royale is a heady mix of champagne cherry and ginger. Byblos has a bar at the entrance, then the restaurant further along, so you can stay for drinks or dining. The staff are relaxed and welcoming. Simply a must when in the pearl of the Mediterranean.

The menu is largely Italian-inspired, with carpaccio de boeuf, pizza and linguine alle vongole. Gigi’s concept fuses party and family fun. It is home to Gigi’s Circus, which is a 350m² kids club. Very unusual for a beach club in St Tropez, not just fun for the grown-ups. Everyone is guaranteed a great time at Gigi’s.

Nikki Beach Saint-Tropez, 1093 Route de l’Épi, 83350, Ramatuelle

Nikki Beach, tell only your best friends. An upbeat party beach club where everyone has a ball. Located across from Gigi, this beach club could not be more different to it’s neighbour. Starting in 1998 Nikki Beach has several locations around the world including neighbouring Monaco as well as globally; Dubai, Santorini, Ko Samui and beyond. An adults playground where champagne flows, music is pumping and dancing on tables is the norm. World famous DJ’s such as Bob Sinclar or Martin Solveig provide the tunes as you relax by the pool or enjoy a largely liquid lunch. If you are in the mood to eat you can sample sushi, salads and sliders. The food is great but the party is electric.

Club 55 St Tropez
Le Club 55, 43 Bd Patch, 83350 Ramatuelle

Have we saved the best until last? Quite possibly. Back in 1950’s when Brigitte Bardot filmed “And God Created Woman” bikinis were not the norm and St Tropez was a small fishing village. Overnight the Riveria became the place to be. Le Club 55 originated in 1955 hence the name. This hallowed spot on Pampelonne beach was the filming located for “And God Created Woman” or “Et Dieu… créa la femme”. A Pampelonne beach club fore founder. A place for the discerning holiday maker. Le Club 55 is understated yet prestigious and elegant. They say “the customer is not King because the customer is a friend”. Today the beach club and restaurant is as busy as ever. The restaurant is a sea of sky blue table cloths, natural woods and trees for shade. Using locally sourced ingredients the menu is largely made up of fish specialities. Le Club 55 also grow their own vegetables and make their own olive oil. Sophisticated and sustainable. The beach is one of the most beautiful beaches you will come across on the Riviera. The sparkling sea meets the sky as the sun beats down on the softest fine sand. The perfect place to lose an afternoon, especially with a few of Le Club 55’s spritzes.
