Red Square

You must visit Red Square. This history-filled square is surrounded by infamous, iconic Russian buildings like St Basil’s Cathedral, the Kremlin and Lenin’s Mausoleum. As a child, I thought St Basil’s Cathedral was a mythical building, a bit like a Disney castle. The domes were designed to look like flames on a bonfire, I always thought they looked like ice. Legend has it that Ivor the Terrible commissioned the cathedral and when it was unveiled he thought it was so beautiful that he had the architect blinded so it would never be surpassed. If there is one place you must visit in this magnificent city, it is Red Square.
