Four perfect UK hotels for staycations…
Staycations are both practical and a necessary pleasure in this day and age; they are the ideal way to treat yourself to a few days of much needed pleasure. So you have 24 hours, one of our beautiful ladies to accompany you and a good budget for some relaxation, but where to go? Allow us to introduce you and your companion to a few perfect destinations. All suggestions are no more than 90 minutes from London, by car or train.
Coworth Park – Blacknest Road, Sunningdale, Ascot, SL5 7SE
Part of the luxurious Dorchester Collection and just an hour outside London lies beautiful Coworth Park. Set in the heart of the Berkshire countryside, this 5-star country house dating back to 1776 is very special. The Dorchester Collection boasts properties such as the Beverly Hills Hotel, The Dorchester and 45 Park Lane, putting it in good company. During your staycation, you can enjoy country walks, a luxurious spa, Michelin-starred dining, sophisticated cocktails or afternoon tea at this picturesque residence. There is even an equestrian centre with two polo fields. If you’d rather go for a walk, there’s a “glorious meadow” which, if you catch it on the right day, is full of beautiful English country flowers; perfect if you are an avid photographer or just want to admire the view. Tennis, mountain biking, croquet and clay pigeon shooting are activities that will ensure you and your dream date work up an appetite at one of Coworth Park’s many restaurants. An ideal choice for 24 hours away from the city.
Limewood – Beaulieu Road, Lyndhurst, SO43 7FZ
In the heart of the New Forest and exactly 90 minutes from the city is the beautiful Limewood, a perfect place for your staycation. Choose between suites or one of two cottages. There’s even a helipad if you really want to arrive in style with your gorgeous, high-class companion. Here you’ll find everything you need for 48 hours in the country: Walking trails, a stunning pool and spa, a snooker table, a restaurant and bar, and gorgeous Bamford bath products. All you need to do is turn up and be pampered all round. The Limewood Group also owns The Pigs with several locations in the south, two of which are less than 90 minutes from town. They describe themselves as restaurants with rooms. So if you can not go to Limewood’s crème de la crème, you should seek them out.
Cliveden House – Taplow, Berkshire, SL6 0JF
If you want to spend your staycation like a king, then head to Cliveden. Cliveden House, made famous more recently by Meghan Markle’s overnight stay before her wedding, has been a jewel in the countryside since the 17th century. Relax with your high-profile companion in a Jacuzzi room or deluxe suite. Dine at the Astor Grill, where you can enjoy casual delights like steaks and burgers, or get dressed up for a decadent evening in the Cliveden Dining Room. The recently renovated spa and gym are tranquil and modern. The grounds are simply breathtaking: expansive green spaces and scenic walking trails.
Four Seasons – Dogmersfield Park, Chalky Lane, Dogmersfield, Hook, RG27 8TD
The ideal escape for a country staycation that’s close to town. A personal favourite of mine because of the pool; it’s both indoor and outdoor, connected by a human-sized cat flap that you can swim through! Believe me, it’s more beautiful than I am describing, and on a warm summer day it’s gorgeous. There are bikes for hire and stables and livestock on site. The gym is fully equipped and there are tennis courts. If you do not want to exercise, there is a wonderful spa with luxurious pampering treatments as well as a sauna, jacuzzi and steam room. The Four Seasons has several bars, restaurants and a courtyard perfect for cocktails or afternoon tea. Say hello to the “black Labrador” Oliver. He roams freely in the lobby and is very good-natured. You might think you are miles from London, but in fact it’s only a good hour by car. The service is incredible and you can be sure of a warm welcome and that your every whim will be catered for.
