Sabor, Heddon Street
Awarded a Michelin star in 2018 this restaurant will make you and your beautiful date think you are in Espania. Sabor is of course Spanish for flavour and you will certainly find a lot of flavour here. Making a reservation ahead of time is highly recommended. Once inside you will understand why it is very much in demand. Split into four sections: La Mesa, El Asador, the counter and the bar.
As you enter Sabor on the ground floor you will find The counter that only accepts walk ins. A more casual affair. Perhaps the best tapas menu you are likely to sample this side of the Bay of Biscay. Also on the ground floor is La Mesa. For those of you with a GCSE or O level in French will know La Mesa means “the table” in Spanish. Located on the ground floor. Should you be sat here it is because you are likely part of a large group booking. Since we are exploring dinner date restaurants I’ll whisk you upstairs to El Asador meaning “the grill”.
You can book a table at El Asador making it your best bet for a dinner date. Using Northern Spanish cooking techniques. Much of the kitchen having actually been shipped over from Spain including the coppers pans and wood fired oven. Enjoying cocktails whilst watching the chefs conjure up Thai cuisine in the open fire kitchen right in front of you. There is so much that is remarkable about this eatery. From the retractable roof to the videos of men wrestling in the bathrooms. Thankfully the food is even more remarkable. The menu changes every month dependant on the season and produce available. As one would expect pasta dishes, pizza, steaks and the most devilish desserts await you and your dinner date companion. Jacuzzi takes walk ins and “sexy bookings” as they call reservations. I defy anyone to leave here without having had a wonderful time.
