A Mayfair Christmas affair to remember

Claridge’s, Brook Street, W1K 4HR

The five-star luxurious Claridge’s is for the grown-ups. Out of all the London hotels to choose from, Claridge’s is perfect for both those checking in and those just passing by. Make this December a decadent Mayfair Christmas affair to remember. Admire possibly one of the most spectacular Christmas trees in London. This year, Louis Vuitton has the privilege of decorating the now-iconic Christmas tree in Claridge’s lobby. Celebrating the “art of travel”. Not so much a tree but a giant Louis Vuitton trunk stacked high. The mammoth trunks are ajar, showcasing 21 ornaments with a miniature model of the Louis Vuitton family house atop. The show-stopping creation is enveloped by the grand winding Claridge’s staircase. Previous years’ innovative tree designs have been created by Dolce & Gabbana, Christian Louboutin and Dior. Each year, the fabulously innovative tree adorns the lavishly decorated entrance hall.

Come for the tree, stay for the cocktails. You and your gorgeous companion can admire the spectacular tree from The Painters Bar. Really indulge in the Christmas spirits before heading out for a fabulously festive night on the town or perhaps dine in. From Thanksgiving to New Year Claridges spoils guests with creative yet elegant dining options and seasonal cocktails. As ever with Claridges, everything is Art Deco with a contemporary, elegant twist. Tradition meets fashion. A truly wonderful place to be during the most wonderful time of the year.

Festive finger sandwiches include: Coronation turkey, smoked salmon and dill, plus minted cucumber and cream cheese. Displayed in a beautiful sleigh, you and your Christmas companion can enjoy the creations of Executive Pastry Chef Sylvain Goujon. Other fantastic creations include the edible candle centrepiece. Entirely hand-sculpted from French gingerbread with a chocolate centre. London hotels really are extra creative around the Christmas period.

Christmas at The Ritz

The Ritz, 150 Piccadilly, St. James’s

The Ritz certainly puts on the ritz all year round, but even more so at Christmas. From mid-November until the end of the year, you and an elegant companion can experience “Live at The Ritz”. A fabulously festive throwback to the roaring twenties. A dinner and dance for you and a gorgeous date.

You will be treated to a four-course Michelin-starred meal whilst you are entertained by an array of acts. The London Dance Orchestra, one of London’s best swing bands, will be playing not just Christmas tunes but music from the big sound era. Get in the Christmas spirit with dancers in flapper dresses and feathers. The big man himself, Mr Claus, will also pop in. He is very busy at this time of year but will always make time for guests at London’s most iconic five-star hotel. An opulent theatrical affair guaranteed to have you and your date up on your feet and singing along to Christmas classics.

Gentlemen, do not forget your jackets and ties. London hotels do not get much more traditional than this. If you are lucky enough to wake up at this prestigious Piccadilly address on Christmas Day, then there will be no tasteless Turkey and burnt Brussels sprouts. A staggering six-course spread will await you at lunch before a four-course dinner in the evening. Live singers and a pianist will entertain the dining room guests. Champagne flows freely, and you are guaranteed the most decadent 25th December of your life.
