Not so much a tree but a giant Louis Vuitton trunk stacked high. The mammoth trunks are ajar, showcasing 21 ornaments with a miniature model of the Louis Vuitton family house atop. The show-stopping creation is enveloped by the grand winding Claridge’s staircase. Previous years’ innovative tree designs have been created by Dolce & Gabbana, Christian Louboutin and Dior. Each year, the fabulously innovative tree adorns the lavishly decorated entrance hall.

Festive finger sandwiches include: Coronation turkey, smoked salmon and dill, plus minted cucumber and cream cheese. The Snowman is spectacular —not just the song sung by Aled Jones, but the vanilla rice pudding with coconut cinnamon mousse, topped off with a red cranberry-flavoured hat, of course. The newly constructed Winter Garden at the front of the hotel is an ingenious use of space and the perfect place to enjoy a glass of champagne. Two globes, seating up to five people, are positioned under the fairy lights outside the hotel entrance. If you happen to be dining at The Dorchester over the Christmas period, expect a feast fit for Kings. Pure unadulterated decadence, no matter where you dine. Alain Ducasse, the Michelin-starred resident restaurant, offers a six-course festive menu with wine pairings. The Grill’s Christmas menu is three courses, including salmon, Norfolk turkey, and, of course, Christmas pudding.
The festivities start early at The Dorchester. In November, Mica Paris is singing at The Promenade and Artists Bar to kick-start the season of goodwill. A special evening performance alongside a seasonal three-course menu. David Walliams is also hosting a book reading and afternoon tea event in November.
