“One of my favourite meals was at the French restaurant Orrery on Marylebone High Street near me. The restaurant is above the very trendy Conran shop. The interior is elegant and calm and provides the perfect setting for dinner – it’s very romantic. I had the most succulent shoulder of lamb, which literally melted in my mouth. It’s worth noting that the restaurant updates its menu every week, which means there’s something new to try every time; all the more reason to come back. The attention to detail was impeccable without being too fussy. My fabulous meal was washed down with plenty of champagne recommended by the brilliant sommelier. Timeless and stylish, dinner at the Orrery is something I will never forget”

I would say to try and get a table by the large, ornate round windows. The room is really beautiful, very sophisticated and romantic, but not too fussy. Think immaculate white tablecloths and muted tones, mirrors and an intimate atmosphere. Cream leather chairs, grey and metallic floors; very warm and decadent. It’s chic, but whispers “this restaurant is expensive”.

The service is equally exceptional; you are waited on hand and foot, nothing is too much trouble. The staff really seem to enjoy their work. Igor Tymchyshyn, a Michelin-starred chef, whips up award-winning dishes without fuss. So many restaurants around the world love a “jus” or a “glaze”, basically tasteless aesthetic rubbish – not so at the Orrery. The food is substantial, but also impeccably presented. As Juliet said, the menu changes weekly, but each dish is fresh and innovative. The desserts are incredible, but the cheese selection is huge; if you like your cheese, do not miss Orrery.
